Dr. Yuman Khan founded Petra Dental with a vision for modern dentistry defined by precision, intention, and compassion. Known for her calm demeanor, gentle touch, and careful attention to every detail, she creates smiles that balance aesthetics, function, and long-term oral health. Her philosophy is straightforward: thoughtful, conservative dentistry where less is more.
Dr. Khan earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she built a strong foundation in comprehensive and restorative care. She further refined her clinical and surgical skills by completing a General Practice Residency at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, gaining extensive hands-on experience in complex procedures and advanced patient management. She approaches dentistry with a thoughtful, individualized perspective, listening carefully to each patient’s needs and goals. She dedicates time to educate every patient, helping them feel confident in their oral health and treatment decisions.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Khan treasures a life grounded in balance, curiosity, and connection. She enjoys staying active, exploring new cafés and restaurants, sharing laughter and conversation with family and friends, and carving out quiet moments to recharge. These experiences inspire the warmth, thoughtfulness, and energy she brings to every patient interaction.
Dr. Spyropoulos has been a respected and highly skilled dentist in the Astoria community for
over 40 years. His love for dentistry began at just fourteen, inspired by his father, a talented
Dental Technician. Watching his father work and learning the fundamentals of the craft firsthand sparked a lifelong passion that shaped his career.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1982 and his Doctor of Dental
Surgery (DDS) from NYU College of Dentistry in 1986. Early in his career, he was invited to
teach at NYU College of Dentistry as an Assistant Clinical Professor, later serving as Faculty
Coordinator and Quality Control Supervisor for all lab work. His dedication and precision earned him numerous awards and citations, reflecting both his technical skill and commitment to excellence.
Throughout his career, Dr. Spyropoulos combined exceptional dental expertise with a genuine
care for his patients. He has always prioritized patient education and preventive care, ensuring
that every individual understands how to protect their oral health for the long term.
A hallmark of his practice has been his mastery of laser dentistry. Dr. Spyropoulos has used
lasers to perform advanced procedures, including treatment of gum disease, gingivectomy/gum reshaping, crown lengthening, management of mouth sores and more. His skill allows patients to experience safe, efficient, and highly effective treatments.
